CEREM extended its assistance to various arts and science colleges in creating scientific awareness through lectures and in helping the faculties to develop research projects. The Centre also organised a number of webinars and online lectures.

Watercon - 2022

CEREM in collaboration with VidyabhyasaVikasa Kendra and MES Training College organized a two days’ conference ‘WATERCON2022on ‘Dwindling Resources: Need Water management in Kerala with special reference to Groundwater’ at MES College, Marampally, Aluva, Kerala during 22-23 March 2022.Dr. K. Shadananan Nair was one of the patrons and Dr. V. Jayasree was Convenor of the conference. Dr. Benny N peter, Dr. Jomon Joseph Thachil, Dr. AjithJoseph and Ms. ChethanaBadekaralso actively participated.

As part of World Science day celebrations, Dr Jomon Thachil delivered an interactive lecture on the topic An introduction to the Tropical Revolving Storms (TRS for the benefit of staff and students of St Joseph School, Angamaly on 10th November, 2021.


Dr. K. Shadananan Nair reviewed research papers for the following journals:

Dr Jomon Joseph Thachil delivered a Key note address on Global Climatic Change and its impacts in ENVIRON- 2021, International Online Lecture Series,26 -30 July, 2021; Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara
Dr Jomon Joseph Thachil assessed the PhD thesis titled as ' Buoyant plumes and it's frontal dynamics in the shelf off the south west coast of India',  as a Doctoral committee member of Bharathidasan University, Trichy for the award of Ph.D degree in April 2022.
Dr. Venu G Nair delivered several talks on climate change as part of awareness programme in many educational institutions and organizations. He also participated in the discussions on climate change and extremes in many television channels.

DR. Archana Nair, Dr. Venu G Nair and Dr. K. Shadananan Nair published a research paper the role of North West Equatorial Indian Ocean in modulating the variability of southwest monsoon rainfall over Kerala in a climate change in the journal Theoretical and Applied Climatology https://doi.org/10.1007/s00704-021-03716-8 , 23 July 2021 CEREM continued its collaboration with Christ College, Irinjalakkuda for the GIS course for which the certificate is issued by CEREM.

Scientific project Impacts of Changing Climate and Rising Sea Level: Challenges in Mitigation and Adaptation in Kerala funded by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment was completed and the final report was submitted progress.

Dr. V. Jayasree has submitted a research proposal Sustainable technological intervention for addressing challenges pertaining to Water and Environment in Perandoor canal of Kochi city, Kerala to KSCSTE.

Dr. G. D. Martin successfully carried out a project Queens Red Crown: Mangrove Planting Project at Kochi funded by UST-Global under CSR funding scheme and the final report was submitted.

Dr. K. Shadananan Nair has submitted a research proposal Impact analysis of flood and drought cycles on groundwater-surface water system, using an Integrated Machine Learning Modeland preparation of water management plans in Kerala, India to KSCSTE.
