Dr.C.S.Gopakumar obtained his Master’s Degree in Meteorology and Doctoral Degree (PhD) in agro-climatology from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). He has twenty nine years of research experience in the field of climate science. He has published several research articles in national and international journals and has published more than 150 scientific articles in various newspapers and contemporary journals.

He has authored eight books on his area of specialization and has published five technical reports. He is currently interested in / engaged in science communication and journalism. He has extensive teaching, research and extension experience at University level and is resource person for handling classes to various forums. His area of interest includes agro-meteorology of plantation crops, climate change and its impacts, agricultural drought assessment studies, climate change and monsoon vagaries over Kerala and so on. He has undergone several training programmes conducted by various national agencies in the field of climate science and allied sectors and has vast experience in handling various sophisticated agro-meteorological instruments.
