Dr. Baby Simon is a retired scientist (G) of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Group, Physical Research laboratory, Ahmedabad. Dr. Baby Simon holds Master’s degree in Meteorology from Cochin University of science and Technology and Ph.D in Atmospheric Sciences from Berhampur University, (on the topic “Satellite  derived moisture profiles and air-sea heat exchanges over tropical Indian Ocean in the context of summer monsoon”). He has more than 34 years of experience on application of satellite meteorological data for Monsoon Studies, air-sea interaction, Intra-seasonal Oscillations of monsoon, Monsoon 

onset, and meso-scale process studies. Involved in the retrieval of application products from INSAT, INSAT-3D and Validation of satellite derived  parameters- INSAT and Megha Tropiques.. Dy. Project. Dir. MT (Validation), Project Manager INSAT-3D- Application products. He has worked as Course Director and faculty for UN-affiliated CSSTE-AP course on Satellite meteorology and Global Climate, and faculty for advance course on Space Science and geo-informatics, Gujarat University, Examiner/evaluator M.Sc. (Meteorology) /M.Tech. – (Atmospheric Sciences), P.hD.’s CUSAT/Andhra University. He has guided many M.Tech and P.hD Students and has several publications to his credit. He has received Young Scientist award (and gave invited talk) at FSU Florida, USA and ISRO (Team Excellence) award-2008: INSAT Meteorological Data Processing System (IMDPS).
